The Ray Gibbs ancestors have a long history in the Madison County Virginia area. The earliest Gibbs in the United States arrived in the Colonies in 1619 and settled in the Jamestowne area. A descendant of the Jamestowne John Gibbs, Zacharias Gibbs moved to Madison County (then Culpeper County) in the mid 1700s. His descendants continued to farm in the area until the present.
This is a generic Gibbs Family crest. Many versions of the crest can be found, so this is not necessarily the crest for our particular line.
