These videos are mainly 1960s. Victor was really busy that year traveling around the country. He retired from the Bureau of Standards and continued for a while doing consulting. The work required traveling around to Bureau locations. He and Lois traveled around in a motor home that can be seen in many of the films. He had several different motor homes. During the travels he visited family all over the country.

About the music: Ray Gibbs was a hobo and rode the rails west when he was a teen. When he was 32 he settled down when he met and married Bessie. He talked about the experience with nostalgia and bought the Linden property because of the tracks across the road. Now he roams around heaven. Jimmy Rodgers was his favorite musician.
Renzi and Gibbs Families 1962-1963 – 1962: Rocky brought crabs home! Kids and Grandma Anne watch. Margaret is newborn and the Gibbs family came for the christening. Victor Johnson is filming. 1963: All the Renzi and Gibbs families were at the Renzi house in Maryland. Occasion was Eileen Elizabeth’s first communion. Renzis had 9 kids, Gibbses had 8 kids.
South Dakota Families Summer 1963 – This family gathering in Summer 1963 included Oliver and Anne and their children’s families: Christiansen, Gibbs, Lichty, Renzi, Sister Kathleen. Also, Anne’s friend Ed Magness (from Miller) is included. Locations are Lichty farm and St. Anne’s Church in Miller.
Oliver Johnson Funeral – 1963 – Oliver Johnson died Oct 15, 1963. He was buried in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Miller SD. The service was attended by Johnson, Gibbs, Lichty, Christiansen, Renzi and Lawless families.
Jeanne Johnson Wedding – 1963 – Jeanne married Andy Hoffman in Santa Ana CA. Later they joined the family at the beach.
Leo Johnson Family in Colorado 1964 – The Leo Johnson family visited Colorado before continuing their trip to South Dakota. Betty Gibbs is in the film. The family is getting ready to walk across the golf course and have dinner at the Boulder Country Club. Later: Bob and Evelyn (Johnson) Wahlin with their children visited at Victor’s place in Boulder. They enjoyed Victor’s pool!
Leo Johnson Family in South Dakota 1964 – The Leo Johnson family visited the Christian and Lichty families in South Dakota. Bob and Evelyn Wahlin (Johnson cousins) visited at the Lichty farm while the Leo Family were there.
Lyons Nebraska 1964 – Cleaning Oliver’s Store – The first segment was taken in downtown Lyons. It looks like some silly thing related to pioneer days or equivalent. Oliver’s store in Lyons is shown, c1964. Victor Johnson, Ray Gibbs, Arnold Johnson and others cleaned it out. The workers gathered at Jim Johnson’s place to eat watermelon and relax after their hard work cleaning out the store. Some stuff was taken to the dump and several people carted off treasures. Victor and Ray filled up Victor’s one-ton flatbed truck and drove it to Boulder CO. Victor built extra sheds on his property to house the stuff he rescued from the store.
South Dakota Picnics 1964 – First is a summer picnic with the Lichty and Christiansen families. Probably around July 4 because Pam was lighting fireworks. Another Picnic with the families was in the fall. Dorothy hangs clothes on a line.
Renzi Family at Work and Play – 1964 – Rocky was a plumber and Victor caught him on a job. The family played a lot! In the front of the house and the backyard. They often had supper picnics in the back yard in the summer.
Gibbs in SD Aug 1964 – The Bessie and Ray Gibbs family traveled to South Dakota in August 1964 in a Dodge motor home. Justin and Hunter (twins) were about 3 months old. The Gibbs family also included: Bessie, Betty, Joan, Steven, Julia, Victor, Christine, Robin. Grandma Anne Johnson was there. The other families in the videos are the Christiansens and Lichtys. Everyone made a big fuss over the babies. Visits with Mary (Christiansen), and Dorothy (Lichty) families.
Gibbs in Colorado 1964-1969 – These are short clips of Betty and other family members at 55th Street. The last clip is Betty’s graduation from Colorado School of Mines in Golden.
Gibbs Twins In Snow 1965 – This movie was taken at the Gibbs Winchester house in the winter of 1965. Justin and Hunter were about a year and a half old. Others in the movie include Bessie, Julia, Christine, and Robin. The still photos were taken at the same time. Robin was learning to ride a bike. Julia taking Justin and Hunter for ride in wheelbarrow.
Victor’s Place on 55th St, Anne and Tessie Visit 1965 – These are a few scenes taken at Victor’s place on 55th St. He had a swimming pool and was surrounded on two sides by the Boulder Country Club. The dog was named Pootie. Grandma Anne Johnson and Tessie Lichty visited Victor Johnson in Boulder. Tessie traveled with Anne as a companion.
Leo Family 1965-1967 – Victor visited Leo Johnson in California. Leo was planting an orange grove and building a house at Valley Center. Bob and Herb helped. Barbecue! At the Santa Ana house, August 1965 with Andy and Jeannie Hoffman and their boys Andrew Todd and Timothy Leo. Another time (1967?), Andy Hoffman and two oldest boys visited Victor Johnson in Boulder CO. Jeanne was not on this trip.
Renzi family visits the South Dakota Farming Families – 1965 – The Renzi family visited the Lichtys and Christiansens. Renzis drove a nice blue Station wagon, took Lucy and all the younger kids. Grandma Johnson, Sr. Kathleen also were there. It was harvest time and Rocky helped. Pretty good for a city boy. He obviously enjoyed himself immensely.
Families in Boulder and South Dakota – 1967 – Sr. Kathleen, Pauline, and Pam visited in Boulder and went to a game with Lois Johnson, Lois’ mother, and son Bob Sprentall. The second part is the three SD visitors (probably) waiting for a bus somewhere in Boulder.
Anne leaves a hotel in Miller and gets into Victor’s one-ton flatbed truck. The rest of the clip is taken on a farm. Location is not sure – maybe Christiansen farm. State is South Dakota.
Jim Johnson’s Farm 1968 – Jim was Oliver’s older brother. The farm was close to Lyons Nebraska. Oliver and Victor Johnson spent time with Jim and his family in the 1930s. They remained close the rest of their lives. Jim died in 1973. His wife was Laura, children Raymond, Arnold, and Evelyn.
