I searched for a way to give relatives and other interested people an easy way to access the 70 videos that have been created from Victor Johnson’s films and uploaded to YouTube. The videos occupy many gigabytes and don’t readily fit on disc or flash drive media.
The films were taken between 1940 and late 1970s. When you go to the channel, it is a chore to find something from a particular year or about an event or some part of the family. The Video section of the Web site organizes the links by year and the descriptions help you decide if you really want to see that video. The videos are complete for now.
The rest of the site contains family stories and genealogical data for the Gibbs and Johnson families. A long-term goal is to prepare books that contain the stories. Many of the stories are still in development and will be added to the site as they are completed.
I am the one who was chosen (by the universe?) to preserve these memories. Now that I am retired I have time left in my life to complete the work that Victor Johnson started on the Johnson side. The Gibbs side was researched by Dorothy Gibbs and published in the book “From Castle To Country” (1995). My contribution on the Gibbs side is to find more details about our Gibbs ancestors and tell their stories.
